Trail of Tears



The Trail of Tears was the most fighting people of the southwest. Jackson is the leader of the southwest. He was commanding the people to hurt Indians. The congressional people were hurting Indian people in their soul. In the year of 1830 they provided for moving of the Indian people that remained east of Mississippi to this land called Old Southwest. These tribes were Choctaws, Cherokees, Chickasaws, and Creeks. The Trail of Tears remains east of Mississippi river. Some of the Seminoles are still in Florida. The Sauk and Fox people were in the upper Northwest Territory. Many Indians died who were from the southwest Andrew Jackson was the first U.S. president to implement removal of the first tribes and they became the model for all other removals. After the Choctaw the Seminole were removed in 1832, the Creek in 1834, then the Chickasaw in 1837, and finally the Cherokee in 1838. Also Many Native Americans suffered hardships and many died. Their homelands were stripped from them. Over 25million acres were taken away from the Indians.
